Thumb ("we", "our", or "the App") is a mobile SSH and Mosh client that allows you to connect to remote computers and servers from your mobile device.
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your information. This Privacy Policy explains what information Thumb collects, how it is used, and how your information is handled when you use the App.
Thumb allows you to configure and save connection information for remote computers and servers, which may include:
This information is stored locally on your device and is not uploaded to or stored on servers operated by us.
Thumb does not have access to your locally stored SSH connection information.
When you connect to a remote computer using SSH or Mosh, Thumb may process terminal input, commands, terminal output, and other session data that are necessary to provide the terminal functionality.
Thumb does not collect, upload, or store your terminal commands, terminal input, terminal output, or SSH/Mosh session content on our servers.
Terminal data is processed on your device and is transmitted directly between your device and the remote computer or server you choose to connect to.
Thumb itself does not collect personal information from your device for purposes unrelated to providing the App.
However, if the App uses third-party services such as advertising, crash reporting, analytics, or other service providers, those services may automatically collect certain technical information, depending on the services enabled in the App.
Such information may include:
The collection and processing of such information is governed by the respective third-party service providers' privacy policies.
Information processed by Thumb is used only as necessary to provide and improve the App.
This may include:
We do not use your SSH credentials, private keys, terminal commands, or terminal session content for advertising or analytics purposes.
Thumb is designed with a local-first approach.
Your saved server and connection configurations are stored locally on your device. This may include host addresses, usernames, ports, authentication information, private keys, and other connection settings.
We do not upload these connection configurations to our servers or maintain a cloud database containing your SSH server information.
If your device provides system-level backup, synchronization, or migration features, information stored by the App may potentially be included in such services according to your device and operating system settings. Such processing is controlled by the applicable platform provider and is not operated by Thumb.
Thumb may allow you to use SSH private keys, passwords, or other authentication credentials to connect to remote computers.
These credentials are stored locally on your device and are not intentionally transmitted to Thumb's servers.
You are responsible for protecting your device and the authentication credentials stored on it.
We strongly recommend using appropriate device security measures, such as a device passcode, biometric authentication, or other available security features.
Thumb may use third-party services to provide certain functionality, such as:
These third-party providers may collect and process information according to their own privacy policies.
Third-party services do not receive your locally stored SSH server configurations, SSH private keys, passwords, or terminal session content from Thumb unless explicitly required by a feature and clearly disclosed to you.
If advertisements are displayed in Thumb, third-party advertising providers may collect certain technical information for advertising delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and, where permitted, personalized advertising.
Depending on your location and device settings, you may be able to control personalized advertising through your device or platform settings.
Thumb does not provide your SSH connection information, SSH credentials, private keys, terminal commands, or terminal session content to advertising providers.
If Thumb offers paid features, subscriptions, or other in-app purchases, payments are processed through the applicable app store, such as Google Play or Apple App Store.
We do not directly collect or store your full payment card number or other sensitive payment credentials.
The applicable app store may process transaction information according to its own terms and privacy policy.
We may receive limited purchase-related information necessary to verify your purchase and provide the corresponding features, such as product identifier, purchase status, transaction information, or subscription status.
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not share your SSH server configurations, SSH private keys, passwords, terminal commands, or terminal session content with third parties.
We may disclose limited information in the following circumstances:
We may share information with service providers that help us operate, maintain, secure, analyze, or improve the App, such as advertising, crash reporting, analytics, or customer support providers.
We may disclose information when required to do so by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or when reasonably necessary to protect our rights, property, or safety.
If Thumb or substantially all of its assets are transferred, merged, acquired, or reorganized, information associated with the App may be transferred as part of the transaction, subject to applicable laws.
Because your SSH connection configurations and terminal data are stored locally on your device, we generally do not retain this information on our servers.
You can delete locally stored connection information through the App's available functions or by removing the App from your device, subject to how your operating system handles application data and backups.
Information collected by third-party services may be retained according to their respective data retention policies.
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information handled by Thumb.
However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.
Because SSH credentials and private keys are stored locally on your device, the security of your device is an important part of protecting your credentials. You are responsible for maintaining appropriate security measures on your device.
Thumb is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate parental consent where required by applicable law.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without the required consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete such information.
If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the information provided below.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including:
To exercise applicable rights, please contact us using the email address below. We may need to verify your identity before processing certain requests.
Depending on the third-party services used by Thumb, certain technical or diagnostic information may be processed or stored in countries other than the country in which you live.
Where required by applicable law, appropriate safeguards will be applied to such transfers.
Your SSH connection information, private keys, credentials, and terminal session content are not uploaded to our servers as part of the normal operation of Thumb.
Thumb may contain links to third-party websites or services.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or security of third-party websites or services. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of third-party services before using them or providing information to them.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Thumb, our services, or applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
